Brew Review: Hop Hog American IPA

by Callum B. Downes

Feral-Hop-Hog

Currently my preferred bevvy on a quiet night out, Feral Brewing Company’s Hop Hog American IPA (Indian Pale Ale) is a real beer lover’s brew. Clocking in at a hefty 5.8%, a couple of schooies of this wild beast will have you linking arms with strangers and screaming Hakuna Matata like Pumba on Simba’s birthday.

Appearing much darker than your regular lager, whilst retaining a tantalising fizz, this particular beer teases you as it settles into your glass. Not to mention the rich aroma of citrus fruits and pine forest that entertain your nostrils as you anxiously wait for your change.

Initially, it sits heavily on your palate, providing an overwhelming bitterness with fruity under notes to balance the flavours. Once she’s down the gurgler, you’re pleasantly left with a dry, crisp sensation that’s as smoky as a Dutch oven. Not that kind of Dutch oven…

Find this beer @ The Brewery and Three Chimneys.

Enjoy like a gentleman.
